Canal Days Paddle

Organized by the Canoe to the Sea Society

Fathers’ Day Sunday, June 19, 2022    10:00am to 3:00pm

The annual Fun Race on the Shubenacadie Canal will be on the lake section of the waterway this year. The route is downstream from Shubie Park to Waverley and then on to Fall River, following Lake Charles, Lake William and Lake Thomas. It is calm and sheltered water all the way but there are 3 short portages and one longer one of about 100 metres. There could be some wind on Lake William as you approach Waverley.

Life jackets, spare paddle, bailer and good shoes are required.

A lunch will be offered for all participants at the beach behind the Gordon Snow Recreation Centre on Lake Thomas in Fall River. Draw prizes and trophies will be presented at the beach at 2:00 pm. For participants who leave their vehicles at the Fairbanks Centre on Locks Rd. in Shubie Park, a return shuttle will be provided.

Registration is $25 per paddler plus the annual membership fee in Canoe Kayak Nova Scotia ($10) and is available through the CKNS website.

Since it is Fathers’ Day, a full rebate is available for fathers, if they are paddling with one of their children.
